This video gives a detailed description of all the Marine patches that are given to soldiers who are active beginning in World War 2 all the all the way up to present.

This video is focused the soldier’s patch, which are also called shoulder patches. They were first approved the first time in 1943, they were popularly known as “battleblazes”. There are thirty patches that were recognized within the Marine Corps up til the current day. Each has different colors, graphics, and meanings. In one instance, for example, the 13th Marine Defence Battalion was presented with a shoulder patch sporting a bright green seahorse in the center. Images like seahorses and swords are commonly used in association with Marines’ focus of sea combat. Patches were usually assigned by your status within the Marine Corps, or your specific job or battalion.
